Leeds United are looking into signing Leicester City left back Luke Thomas after an alleged recommendation from James Maddison.
Leicester City talent Luke Thomas is thought to be a target for Leeds United in the final days of the summer transfer window.
That is according to the Daily Mail, who claim that Leeds have now asked about a deal to take Thomas on loan for the season.
Leicester are so far reluctant to let Thomas join a direct rival, leaving Leeds with plenty of work to do.
Both Leeds and Leicester were relegated from the Premier League at the end of last season and are chasing promotion back to the top flight.
Daniel Farke is allegedly chasing ‘four or five new additions’ this week with a new left back a prime target.
Sam Byram has been playing at left back despite being a right-footer by trade and a more natural left back is wanted.
The Athletic add that Leeds have now made two approaches for Thomas this summer but haven’t been able to change Leicester’s mind yet.
It sounds like this one will be difficult to pull off this week and Leeds may be tempted to turn elsewhere in search of another left back target.
James Maddison involved in Leeds United’s pursuit of Luke Thomas
Thomas hasn’t featured for Leicester this season and the 22-year-old needs a loan move away from the King Power Stadium.
It may well be that Leicester prefer to send Thomas to another Championship club who aren’t seen as a direct rival.
Leeds will be hopeful though and it’s believed that Tottenham Hotspur playmaker James Maddison has played a role in the interest.

TalkSPORT reporter Jason Bourne claims that Maddison recommended Thomas to his former boss Farke.
Maddison played under Farke at Norwich City and then played alongside Thomas at Leicester before leaving this summer.
Maddison seemingly thinks very highly of Thomas and believes that he can do a great job for Farke at Leeds.
Maddison has previously hailed Thomas as a ‘top drawer’ player, so maybe this recommendation isn’t a huge surprise.
It all depends on Leicester’s stance though with the Foxes potentially scuppering Leeds’ hopes ahead of the transfer deadline.
