Wolverhampton Wanderers are now keen to snap up midfielder Arjan Raikhy as he prepares to leave Aston Villa.
Arjan Raikhy could trade Aston Villa for Wolverhampton Wanderers as interest in the young midfielder mounts.
That is according to the Daily Mail, who claim that Raikhy is attracting interest with Villa deciding to release him this summer.
It’s stated that Leicester City are interested in signing Raikhy – and he has already featured for the club as a trialist.
Raikhy featured against Manchester United last month with Leicester casting an eye over the youngster.
The Foxes now face competition with Wolverhampton Wanderers joining the race too.
It looks like Raikhy will have multiple options to stay in the Midlands upon leaving Villa.
First-team action may be very important for Raikhy at this stage in his development, given that he is now edging closer to 21.
Raikhy has never featured in the Premier League for Villa and may now want to play regularly in order to kickstart his career.
Who is Wolves target Arjan Raikhy?
Raikhy was born in Wolverhampton, which may just make a move to Molineux even more appealing to him.
Raikhy – who is from a British Punjabi Sikh family – did though start in the ranks of Wolves’ bitter rivals West Bromwich Albion before being plucked by Aston Villa.
The midfielder spent the first half of the 2021-22 season on loan at Stockport County before joining up with Grimsby Town.
Raikhy had the rare experience of featuring for two promoted sides in one season as both Stockport and Grimsby went up.
Back with Villa this season, Raikhy has been a regular in Premier League 2 with three goals and two assists in 20 appearances.
Villa have decided that Raikhy just won’t make an impact in their first-team setup though and are happy for him to move on.
Wolves or Leicester could now pounce, with Raikhy unlikely to be without a club for a while.
