Liverpool could make a move to sign Leicester City midfielder Wilfried Ndidi before the transfer deadline this week.
That is according to a report from The Independent, who have been discussing Liverpool’s pursuit of a new midfield player.
Wilfried Ndidi may be considered as a potential Liverpool signing as the transfer deadline draws ever closer.
It’s suggested that Ndidi is one name Liverpool could consider because Liverpool are willing to let the Nigerian leave.
The Reds have brought in three midfielders this summer with Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister and Wataru Endo arriving.
Endo has come in for the holding midfield role but Liverpool still need another option there.
Crystal Palace ace Cheick Doucoure is also wanted but Liverpool have been deterred due to his lofty asking price.
That means Liverpool could look for a cheaper option and Ndidi would certainly fit the bill in that regard.
Leicester allegedly want around £20million for Ndidi but Liverpool may look to grind that price tag down as the deadline nears.
Liverpool target Wilfried Ndidi hasn’t been at his best for a while
Ndidi was one of the Premier League’s top holding midfielders not all that long ago.
The Nigerian made a huge impact in the Leicester midfielder after joining from Genk back in 2017.
Brendan Rodgers helped Ndidi kick on and branded him ‘absolutely brilliant’ in the summer of 2020.

Ndidi has completely lost his form in the last 18 months though and his decline coincided with Leicester suffering relegation.
Liverpool may believe that they can bring Ndidi back to his best; he is still only 26 after all.
This would feel like a gamble though, especially having already brought in a rather un-flashy signing in Endo.
Liverpool fans want to see their future midfield anchor come in to compete with Endo, but we can’t see Ndidi being the man for that role.
