Arsenal want Timothy Castagne and Leicester City seem open to selling the defender during this summer’s transfer window.
Leicester City won’t stand in Timothy Castagne’s way as Arsenal eye a summer deal for the full back.
That is according to The Athletic, who claim that Castagne will be allowed to leave Leicester this summer.
The Foxes want an ‘appropriate’ offer for Castagne but the expectation is that the Belgian will move on this summer.
This comes after claims that Arsenal have now opened talks to sign Castagne.
Belgian reporter Sacha Tavolieri claims that Arsenal have started negotiations for Castagne’s signature.
Tavolieri noted that ‘things could develop quickly’ with Arsenal looking to reunite Castagne with Belgian international teammate Leandro Trossard.
It’s unclear just how much Leicester would want for Castagne after their relegation.
The Foxes paid £22million to sign Castagne from Atalanta in 2020 and may want most of their money back.
Why do Arsenal want Timothy Castagne?
Watching Manchester City win a treble and responding by going for Castagne may sound odd to Arsenal fans.
The 27-year-old hasn’t exactly been spectacular for Leicester and some will wonder just why Edu and Mikel Arteta want him.
This comes down to versatility and an acceptance that Arsenal’s back line was a problem towards the end of the season.
Takehiro Tomiyasu’s versatility to play across the back four was missed, especially in light of an injury to William Saliba too.

Ben White needs competition at right back and another option would open up the prospect of him shifting to centre back if needed.
Kieran Tierney could leave this summer, so a left back will be wanted too.
Why not sign a player who can play at right back and left back with ease?
That’s what Castagne provides having played as a full back and wing back down both flanks.
Castagne is already up to speed with Premier League action and can slot in as a squad option for Arsenal.
Utility men don’t exactly set pulses racing but Castagne could play an important role for Arsenal moving forward and a deal seems there to be done.
