Strange really to see a 35 year old Jonny Evans alongside Harry Maguire in a Man Utd defence this afternoon as Arsenal in the end picked up all three points in a very tight affair. Declan Rice scored the 2-1 goal that in real put the game to bed, sadly it was deflected by Evans, and went in behind their new goalkeeper Onana.
Both Maguire and Evans were late subs as the pair was back in a Premier League game together for the first time since 2019, when they teamed up for the Leicester 0-0 draw vs. Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, on the 12th of May 2019. To see them again together on the field for Man Utd was one few would have seen coming.
James Maddison can be proud of himself with some grand performances for Spurs since arriving in the summer. He has shown great class and the money paid looks at this point a bargain buy. To be playing with better teammates and in a team more balanced, and the role he has been given shows what a magnificant player he can be when set up correctly.
Luke Thomas was in action for Sheffield United, coming on for his debut in the 2-2 draw with Everton at Bramall Lane. Will be interesting to follow Luke Thomas as his presence in Premier League will be of great importance as his talent hopefully will blossom.
Timothy Castagne made his debut for Fulham, coming on in the 73rd minute. Man City were allready 4-1 up at the time, as they finished the show with one more goal in stoppage time, seeing a struggling start to his new Premier League adventure. Calvin Bassey was not involved in the game being an unused sub for Fulham.
Youri Tielemans also had a difficult day at the office, coming on 2nd half in the Aston Villa 0-3 defeat away to Liverpool. Tielemans will of course come closer to a start but so far at Aston Villa only been a sub coming on.
Ben Mee was in the starting eleven for Brentford in their 2-2 draw with Bournemouth. Jeffrey Schlupp was in the starting line-up for Crystal Palace in their 3-2 win vs. Wolves.
George Hirst left the field after just 36 minutes in Ipswich game vs. Cardiff, just being back from injury, at the time of the incident, they were 2-0 down, but fought back and won 3-2. Nigel Pearson and his Bristol City team fought fantastically away to Swansea, winning 2-1. Matty James was in the starting line-up, Andy King an unused sub as The Robins climbed to 8th in the table.
Victor Johansson played his part in the strong 2-1 Rotherham away win at Norwich, as this division is clearly open and everyone can defeat each other. Callum Wright came on in the 61st minute as his Plymouth showed class defeating Blackburn 3-0 at Home Park. Cedric Kipre played the full game when West Bromwich were surprisingly defeated 1-2 at home to Huddersfield.
A fantastic start to life at Exeter for Admiral Muskwe as his debut ended in a 1-0 away win at Burton, coming on and helping his team to score the winning goal. Mitchel Clark and Elliott Moore were up against each other when Port Vale (MC) managed to win 1-0 at The Kazam vs. Oxford (EM).
Callum Elder and Martyn Waghorn were both in the starting line-up for Derby in their 2-1 away defeat to Bolton. Lewis Brunt was in the staring line-up for Mansfield in their 0-0 home draw to Bradford City. Tyrese Shade was an 2nd half sub for Swindon in their 0-0 draw away to Doncaster.
Caglar Soyuncu came on in the 76th minute for Atletico Madrid in their 7-0 away hammering of Rayo Vallecano, being on the field for the final three goals. Rayo played again in another defeat yesterday this time against Real Betis, Ayoze Perez on the field for Betis in the 1-0 win.
Andrei Kramaric made one assist in Hoffenheim’s strong 3-0 home win vs. Wolfsburg last evening. Daniel Amartey and Rachid Ghezzal are with Besiktas and ready for the group stages in Conference League. Amartey played in the 1-0 winner vs. Dynamo Kiev last week. Besiktas climbed to third in the league defeating Sivasspor 2-0 at home. Amartey did not play as he has involved in the two first games of the league season, Ghezzal came on as a 2nd half sub.
